i like this show i can't say i love it though because it's like the same thing the writer keeps saying over and over espcially about blaire okay wel alreay know that her dad left her mom for a man male model so stop telling us i think nate is tottaly hot and he should be playing serena's former lover meaning the role dan is playing i think it so cute that serena's little brother is friends with dan's sister in real life those two make a really good couple so that's cute this story should have more drama you know what i think i think that serena got pregnantwith nates baby and she didn't tell anyoneand she say's she went to a boarding school but no one know's for sure she might have had the babby in stuff and she gave it up for adoption who know's you know you hate me

Im pretty sure nate looked like a complete goof in the first episode. With his hair all slicked back? I was definitly hoping for a hot stoner image.
I think Jennys character looks nothing like she should look at all. she's way too skinny and blonde and... ya, just no. And where are her massive boobs? I think that's a big part of who her character is. A lot of the stuff about her was based around her self conciousness about her boobs..
Dans character definitly does it for me. I actually pictured him like that. Although I pictured his style & stuff a little different.
Serena and Blairs characters are ok.. I dont know. I guess they can't get it perfect sinse we all got different images when we read the books!
I can't wait to see Vanessa.
Although the way they've been completely changing the characters she'll probably come on with a full head of hair or something stupid.

ok....i no im gonna love this show cuz i just love the books....but i just hate the people they casted for the charcters..basically for everyone...y did they make eric younger??? like hello!!! theres basically a whole book on blair and eric and how she almost loses her vriginity to him!!! he cant be younger and they definitely need to fina a vanessa...and fastcuz shes sooo important and one of my faves

I think that blake lively is all wrong for the part. She is pretty but not pretty enough to be serena. Blair should for sure be megan fox and i think the girl from ice princess would be a good jenny. i think nate is perfect. but i guess everyone just has their own views on how the characters should look like. im kind of nervous for the show i hope it doesnt ruin the books for me but i must say i absolutely love the books! i dont think the show will even compare to the books. But i'll watch it anyway. Hopefully it will be a decent show.

I always imagined Alexis Bledel as Blair when reading the books. I can understand Blake Lively being Serena, but wtf as that little girl from The Grinch being Jenny? I'm so excited that Kristen Bell is the Gossip Girl voice. I love her. I'm quite disappointed that Dan is better looking that Nate. I don't like Dan that much in the books, and now I'm going to be all shallow and fall in love with him because he's gorgeous. Gosh. I'm glad this is coming on because I'm dying without The O.C.

I love love love love love the preview of gossip girl, ever since the oc went down hill because of them killing off marissa cooper i've been wanting a girlie girl tv show and now i have it. I was sad to see that jenny didnt have huge boobs, isnt that what kinda makes her who she is. Dan was okay too, I thought he was suppose to be blonde and more lanky, and urbanish..but whatever. I think yall did a great job on casting blair, serena, and nate. He's freaking hott and the fashion looks awesome. I cant wait till the show comes out, ill be watching and i'm sure hella more people too and like the book says, "you know you love me" and i DOOOO !!!

I loved the idea of Gossip Girl being a TV series. It's what I've been waiting for since I started reading the FIRST word in the first book! I also watched the Sneak Peak video on CW.com and it's awesome! I might've expected a much more timid, shy, or let's just say "closed" Dan and a less confident Jenny, but, hey, my dream is already true! I'd love to know if it will be playing on ANY other channel other than the CW during its start on September 26, 2007. (yes. that's how detailed I read)But since I dont know how to figure that out YET, I'll stick to the "Extremely-Happy-And-I-Cant-Even-Wait!" me. :D Big Thanks to "everyone" who came up with this idea (Josh Schwartz, etc.)

a few days ago the preveiw thing for gossip girl came on the cw, and i started SCREAMING! that is how excited i am for this lol. i havent finished all the books but i did finish most, i just started reading about 2 mounths ago. i really want this show to last as many seasons as possiable. i would be so dissapointed if it only got 1 or 2 seasons. cant wait (:!

I've read every Gossip Girl novel (Just finished the last and final one. Tear) so I'm SUPER excited for the show. But I have a bone to pick with the casting people of CW. Blake is a PERFECT Serena, but I can't say the same for Blair. Leighton Meester only has the height and hair color going for her. I'm not that disappointed that she's playing Blair but I was looking forward to the sparkling blue eyes. Oh well though. The rest of the cast is very disappointing though. I agree with alot of you when you say that Nate and Dan were cast wrong. Dan's supposed to be this gorgeous Abercrombie modelesque lacrosse playing stoner with golden brown hair and gorgeous green eyes. The guy they cast for him loosely fits that description. And Dan's supposed to be the skinny pale, shaggy-haired poetic type. Jenny, his little sister, is the biggest casting disappointment for me. She is supposed to be dark-haired, petite, and very well endowed. Instead they cast a skinny little blonde? That makes me sad. I'm pretty upset that they didn't cast a Vanessa, but if the show does as well as I hope it will, she'll deffinately be a regular for next season. I know that it's "based" on the book and all, but for those of us that have followed every book religiously and fell in and out of love with all of the characters so many times, it hurts a little to see them not portrayed the way that they were in the book. Either way, I absolutely LOVE the CW for deciding to make Gossip Girl a T.V. series, and I know that I'll be watching every episode.

Can't wait for the Gossip Girl prequel coming out in October! And can't wait even more for the NEW series about the Carlyle triplets. Who knows, maybe they'll even make that a series after.

although i konw serena is a main character it seems that the show is almost completely about her. this is what i think of each character.

Serena: not what i ever pictured her i pictured a charming gorgeous girl that everyone fell in love with instantly. i just dont see that in blake.

Blair: almost perfect. im sorry to everybody that thought megan fox should play her. i think she plays the role really good and i cant wait ti see what she can really do.

okay the cast is all wrong!! serena is supposed to be flawless and look good in whatever but i dont get that vibe from her actor...nate is supposed to be handsome..and have green(not blue) eyes....the blair character is perfect though.. Rufus humphrey is supposed to have wirey grey hair..duh. and lastly Jenny Humphrey is supposed to be about 5 ft 2 with huge breasts. See the characters are ALL wrong.

The girl who is playing serena definitley did not encompass the image that was portrayed in the book. Serena is supposed to be charming, light, and airy. The girl who plays her seems-in a lack of a better term, rugged and sort of boyish.
The girl who is playing BLAIR seems fit for the part although MEGAN FOX always seemed to be an obvious choice. I definitley see megan as blair more.
Overall, the casting was VERY disappointing. I've always had strong images of each character and high hopes.
However, I am still looking forward to the series because GG is an amazing series. I am excited to see what they come up with.

This is such a great idea! I was looking forward to the movie with Lindsay Lohan but squeezing 13 books into like a 1 1/2 hour movie is stupid. A tv series is brilliant! a tv show is way better than a movie.l imagining having to compress all thirteen books into two hours? stuoidest idea ever. as for the seasons, who says one season = one year? gossip girl is divided into thirteen books. i'm pretty sure they'll be able to make it last more than one season - if it's not a total bust.

And by the way, no, it didnt do horrible after season one. But anyways Gossip Girl would be such an amazing show I swear they'd get like a billion viewers on there first week. So two days ago I was on the phone to my friend when she told me the bad news - - THE O.C GOT CANCELLED—I yelled like a crazy girl that just got dumped on the phone and broke my cell phone! HAPPY NEW YEAR? Yeah I don’t think so!
One of my favorite shows cancelled?! I thought… oh no… But then I guess in some instance I see why… Why kill off a main character? Marissa was the best! Anyway, this isn’t about that!
I have red some of y’all’s comments in relation to what actors should play the characters in Gossip Girl. I’m here to tell y’all that Diana DeGarmo would be absolutely perfect for the role of Blair. Her fansite (dianad.com) appears to get larger each time I visit…
The best part is that over 40million people watched her on American Idol and voted for her. The woman has proven she can sing. I know that this tv show isn’t about singing unless Blair’s future career move is to become a singer!
Miss Diana DeGarmo can most certainly act she has proven it time and time again in 2005 a musical called West Side Story (WSS). Playing the lead, Maria she definitely showed off her acting skills as well as her accent she gives off to the audience. Amazing.
Also no offense to the DeGarmo fans.. but at the time I honestly didn’t think she could pull that off. Thanks to my ex girlfriend who literally dragged me out the front door and into the car and got my ass to the San Jose theater id honestly thank her. (I was a typical all American male guy who was interested in sports, NO musicals). The whole time I sat down watching Diana DeGarmo in astonishment as she lit up the stage with her presence it was breathtaking. I was shocked and stunned at the same time! The second I got out of the theater I called my male friends and told them they must see WSS with Miss Diana she is spectacular! They of course in turn cursed me out! Saying I was a major gay theater freak – lame yes I know, but I got some of there asses up and saw the show again – incredible. I was just so blown away each time.
2006 Miss DeGarmo was in another musical called Hairspray which played in NYC. I was lucky enough to see it 3times. All three times it seemed like she got funnier. If that even is possible? She doesn’t fail to impress me every time. Her character Penny in the show is not the main character but the way Diana plays her you would think she is. Diana steals the show every single time. Penny is a character that is goofy and totally funny but shines in the end where Diana gets to release her voice vocally. Diana plays her out with such depth and range. Sensational work.
Another musical over the summer of 2006 was Brooklyn. Diana made me cry her character Brooklyn is in search of her true identity. After about a month later from seeing the show I was so emotional… Yes, she made me cry like a baby without candy on Halloween how embarrassing that I cried in public and I don’t look like the type of guy to boil my eyes out in public, but I guess I am… Thanks Diana for bringing out my soft and sensitive side which I didn’t even know I had. LOL. Oh and also crying in public attracts chicks like you wouldn’t believe! It’s also a good story to tell when I’m trying to pick up girls too.
Maria, Brooklyn, Penny and Blair. All have one thing in common they all need Diana DeGarmo to be brought to life. Miss DeGarmo can and if given the chance of Blair would play her out to the fullest of her ability.
Not only is her acting outstanding she is the nicest person I have ever met and I know a lot of people and they don’t even compare to her beautiful personality.
I’ve met her a total of four times and each time I feel like it has been a blessing from God. She’s so sweet, humble, nice and all around kind. Not to mention HOT.
It amazes me where she gets her energy from; she’s so energetic on stage and off. If that was me I would be somewhat exhausted. How she does any and all of this is beyond me! She seems to be so focused and talented on her career. Yet she’s only 19! – That’s impressive.
I have met Lindsay Lohan who thought I was a paparazzi because I had a camera phone with me and she told me to go away I stated that I was a fan and just wanted a picture with her and she told me to Fuck off! How incredibly rude! There was only just me and my friend. That was totally uncalled for and left me extremely hurt and disappointed.
I don’t think Diana would ever tell a fan to Fuck off she has an incredibly pure and sweet heart and soul. To me Diana is like the girl next door I highly believe that if she doesn’t get the part of Blair I doubt the series is going to be any good. And I think Josh needs actors/ actresses who have previous acting experience and are known in the business. Example would be something like: I’ve heard of that person where is he or she from?
I don’t want Lindsay Lohan or Kristen from Laguna Beach to get the part of Blair. In short I don’t want a clueless piece of shit on my tv screen every week. The Simple Life is enough – stupid anorexic people walking around acting dumb. – Pathetic.

Now to the dude’s side… At first I was thinking Aaron Ramsey and if y’all don’t know who that is look him up!......... Kidding! He was Diana’s co star in WSS. He did a very good job as well but not as good as my Diana! Though Diana’s character and his fell together perfectly. Even though I was pretty much brainwashed and totally in love with Diana. She’s like a breeze of fresh air to watch. Amazing. WOW. Breathless.
Anyways, Aaron was good!
But I feel as if someone with more of a fan base and more rep should play Nate that person should be Tyler Hilton. He’s role on One Tree Hill earned him credibility as an actor and singer.
In the books Blair and Nate appear to have chemistry and sex appeal. Wonder if they will have it off screen too? Lol.
These two very talented actors come across as warm hearted, genuine people to there audiences and that is who I want to see on my T.V screen each week. So what y’all think and before y’all judge me just remember that this is my opinion and everyone is entitled to there’s. So please comment! PEACE.

I don't know who this girl is, apparently she's an actress, but she's exactly how I pictured Serena when I read the books and I think they should look her up when they hold auditions.

I'm kind of skeptical of having Josh Schwartz on board. I mean, the O.C. completely fell apart after the first season. I guess the books would provide the writers with more direction as far as the storyline but I still wonder if he is the right person.

The problem with Josh Schwartz making the books into a television show is that the all of the gossip girl books thus far only add up to one year, meaning one season, unless the characters are made younger and the story lines are drug out. And once the teens are out of high school Josh wont know what to do with them. He'll mess it up and go into a pattern of redundent story lines that lose our interest and don't show any growth in the characters, just like he's done in the OC. Plus Josh Swhartz is a TOTAL BOY. We need a girl or a gay guy doing this show so we can make sure that we get a decent amount of male eye candy and less lesbian make outs that make no sense. Most of all, this show just needs someone with more imagination. Lets face it, The OC only had about half a season of actually good episodes before Schwartz ran out of good ideas for the show. And The OC is totally mellow drama, while Gossip Girl is much more subtle. Could Josh do it without making it boring? Or ruining it like the OC and Gossip Girl's retarted love child?

As an avid fan of the Gossip Girls series, I think that the TV show idea is by far stupidest thing outside the whole movie idea. For one, the series has yet to end which would be stupid for a TV show because they would find a way to crush all the books into one TV show and then it will get cancelled. Two, how can you turn a book that's internet based basically gossip girl her/hiself is still unknown so they would find a way to make it one of the characters. And Third it's just dumb I think if anybody is a true fan of the series they will agree that this is just not a good idea they will ruin the series by making it some spin off of the OC which was great at first and now is just some random Soap opera that uses sex for ratings. SO with this said I still don't think the Idea is good, I didn't think the movie idea was great when they were in the talks about using Lindsay Lohan I even wrote in telling the movie company to scrub the idea don't know if it even got to them but I know that a bunch of other fans weren't to happy about the idea nor are they happy about this. but yes that's just my opinion.

I absolutely LOVE if this idea would actually come to life. But I do hope that it wouldn't be just an "OC" because us devout readers have in mind of what the book & characters are like.

I do hope that they don't rush to pick characters because it would be a BIG disappointment if bubbles were burst because characters don't fit the part.

I have been engrossed in these books since I was in highschool. I must admit it becomes a bit embarassing when I go to purchase the new novels becacuse I am a 21 year old browsing the teenage literature. I guess when your hooked your hooked.
I am very excited that there has been some consideration in transfering these amazing novels to the television. VERY EXCITED.
I think Kristen is a gorgeous girl but for those of us who actually appreciate the novels it would be a complete let down. She is in NO WAY comparable to Serena. Also I hope that they cast a very exotic beauty for Blair.
I really hope some creator director or assistant reads all of these comments. I would hate to have waited this long for the tv series to come to life and then be disappointed with a poor cast. Personally, I don't believe that either Kristen nor Hilarie would make a decent Serena. Honest and true, I love the flaws and development of her character, and as other have stated, people have a strong development in their mind of how she looks. It would crush the popularity of the whole idea to defy the 'picture' of what the major readers have in mind, and cast somewhat they would call 'inappropriate' for the part.

I've always pictured Adriana Lima as Blair; but realistically, I don't see her on the 'big screen' anytime soon. I think the whole idea of the Gossip Girl television series would make much more sense if you got new names to play the parts. I think that it would give the whole series a sense of originality; and not to mention, I think the 'big name' celebs are extremely overrated, and they would just throw in a cliche` vibe to something much more wonderful.

Casting Kristen Cavallari for Serena van der Woodsen would be like casting Jessica Simpson for Daisy Duke. People make it sound like a good idea, and watch it but then they realize something SHE CAN'T ACT! It's not based on just looks it's based on acting skills. This book is more than a bunch of rich snobby people with problems. It's about scandal, drama and love. Serena's charector has many different levels of her personality and is more complicated than most people would ever guess.

Besides all of that, not to sound envious, [although I am] the only talent Kristen Callvari has is good looks and drama filled life. She never did anything to work for her fame, and plus, she's already rich! Give some other actually talents, beautiful actress a try.

Making a television show based on the book series is a fabulous idea. I don't feel that 'Gossip Girl' would have ever worked as a movie; there's too much content to be made into just one hour-and-a-half production. A television series would allow the creator to build on the characters the way the series' devoted readers have done inside their own minds. Definitely find unknown actors and actresses. The TV show would be horrible if already famous actors took the places of the people that the readers feel they know so well. It would ruin the entire image of what von Zeigasar has created.

I'd love it if Gossip Girl was a series! I was thinking they would make great film or tv programme and now thats gonna happen! If they're choosing between Hilarie Burton and Kristin Cavallari to be Serena then I think they should chose Kristin. Hilarie is NOTHING like how I imagined Serena. Keira Knightley looks a lot like Blair but I doubt she would want to be in gossip girl. Problem is, I live in England, do you think they will eventually view it here?

I've read all the books and love them, and I'm really hoping they will go through with this. But they'd have to be really careful with casting, since so many people have such a strong image of what these girls should look like. For example Hilarie Burton is nothing like Serena is supposed to look, and Kristin Cavalari is even worse. I'm hoping if they do it they won't completely butcher the books.

And as far as the quality of the books go, they're not poorly written and the characters aren't under-developed. They've all been pretty well received so I guess it just depends on your taste.

i think the show might be a good idea i absolutly love the books and the O.C. is just simply awesome so it might work but I really don't think Hilarie Burton or Kristin Cavallari would be good in it I think they should get new actors that no one really knows too well like they did with the O.C.

I'm too old to read those books (let alone admit it), but I borrowed a couple from my younger sister awhile back and was completely hooked. Thing is, they're terrible. The writing is atrocious and the characters aren't developed well. But they're engrossing because they're just SO BAD they end up being good. And if anyone can convert that kind of material into a guilty-pleasure pop culture phenomenon... it's Josh Schwartz.

i love this idea! my favorite books on tv... these books would make awesome shows b/c they're so scandalous. and everyone loves watching rich people act up...
