Yay! New Episodes In The Works for Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Smallville, Supernatural, Reaper, and The Game
Big news on The CW front: Mediaweek is reporting that The CW will be ordering new episodes of six shows: Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Reaper, Smallville, Supernatural, and The Game.
After a very long drought, it looks like we're in for some serious new TV!
We were worried the strike would last so long that some of our fave new shows like Gossip Girl and Reaper would lose momentum. And what about our longstanding dramas? One Tree Hill still has some episodes to burn, but we were thisclose to totally running out of Smallville and Supernatural episodes. Now we'll be getting new eps before too long. According to this article, Gossip Girl could be airing new episodes by August. Yeah, it's still a long wait, but at least an end is in sight!
We couldn't be happier -- hey, these are among the shows we cover most here for a reason.
One Tree Hill is on a roll this season with amazing storylines, and we don't want to see the fun end in a few weeks. Gossip Girl left us hanging with Blair's crash-and-burn. On Smallville, Clark is stretching his superhero wings. As for Supernatural -- we must know if Dean is going to hell and Sam is evil. Any chance for more Ray Wise makes us happy on Reaper. And The Game has surpassed its first season in the amazing second season, taking risks by separating Mel and Derwin and shaking up the characters' living situations. In short, we need more of these shows, and we're so psyched to be getting it.
We still don't know which shows will be renewed for next season, of course, but our fingers are crossed that this news bodes well for some of our favorites. We'd be shocked if Gossip Girl didn't return, but shows like Supernatural that don't always get the best treatment from the network had us worried. The fact that the network is ordering more episodes has to bode well for another season... right?
As for Life Is Wild and Girlfriends, it looks like they're done for: LIW is not producing new eps and won't be returning, and Girlfriends might wrap up its final season with a clip show. We kind of saw it coming with Girlfriends, but we were hoping Life Is Wild might get another chance to build an audience (we loved its family dynamics and South African backdrop). Alas! Will you miss these shows, or do you think it's time for them to be put to rest?
Which show are you most excited to see more of? Tell us what you think of this news in the comments!

I can't believe LIW is cancelled! The show was so inspiring! Not just for the family values story line, but the Africa social and political issues themes. I think it is a show that is ahead of its time and if CW kills it, I hope a cable channel picks it up!
It's better than any movie I've seen in at least six months, I'd even watch it on pay-per-view.
I hope that they will at least release season 1 on DVD.

I personally would have watched Life Is Wild then PCD or ANTM or any other show like the wrestling one or supernatual.
why cancel such a great show when it was only getting started?!

I am extremely excited Tree Hill is still on i was really worried after the third season the fourth season was going to be bad...they made a good choice in fastforwarding to the future after college!!! And the season so far is awesome with all its ups and downs and wild rides i am sure they have a lot in store for us just look at how good all their previous seasons were... And Gossip Girl Chace Crawford how could you not love that show with him in it i mean he is gorgeous and an amazing actor it is just wierd to see him going from playing a witch with powers in the covenant to this preppy bot in Manhatten....but he does it well !

I'm a Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill fan. I never watched One Tree Hill before this season, but this year it has totally sucked me in! I'm thrilled that it looks like we will see more of both of them. I have been keeping up with Life is Wild, too. It will be a shame to see it go. I love the option to watch online. I can always catch up if I miss an episode on tv.

I hope Supernatural makes it into at least 5 or 6 seasons, I would like to see as many seasons as they had of the X-Files, heck, the X-Files has 2 movies of it now (one of them is still in production I believe). Hopefulle SUPERNATURAL will get several full length, theatrical movies as well. And hopefully with a chase scene as good as in Bullitt.

WOW!! Supernatural cant wait for the new episodes its the only good thing on tv in the past few years and to end it would just be a crime.X

SUPERNATURAL is the gold mine of television series. There are so many shows that are limited by their characters, storyline, and setting. However, SUPERNATURAL has so much potential it's bursting with it! The genre of the show can change just as easily as the setting and storyline. One week it's angsty tear-jerking drama, the next, creepy horror thriller, and the next satirical comedy. It's marvelous! Not to mention Jensen and Jared's quality performances. They were both great in the beginning of the show, but through SUPERNATURAL's progression i feel that they've both grown more both into their roles as Sam and Dean and as professional actors. Not even to mention the other wonderfully, creative minds working on SUPERNATURAL: the writers, directors, producers, scenery crews, props crew, camera crew, and all the devoted P.A.s. Oh how i wish i could be a P.A. to SUPERNATURAL. Heck, i'd do it for free!
But i digress, all it comes down to is that if CW doesn't pick up SUPERNATURAL for many more seasons to come then another channel will undoubtedly scoop it up.
ZEPPELIN RULEZ!!!
Rock on boys! And keep up the good work!
(decided to repost this with my more common s/n)

i can't wait for more smallville episodes too. as we all know, this season started out really slow, but (to me), smallville's been great since episode 6, and i like the last one that aired (episode 12). the last i heard smallville had 15 episodes be4 the strike, but i can be very wrong with what i heard.
i just can't wait, i miss the show already.

If Supernatural doesn't come back, the network will be doing a great injustice to a great show. The network only has 4 shows worth watching. Gossip Girl, Smallville, Supernatural, and OTH. The rest of the shows are garbage. If you people were smart, you would renew the shows that make this network worth anything at all.
Posted by: Chris | February 15, 2008 1:09 AM
SUPERNATURAL!!! I agree with what other people said - how it goes through so much neglect with the network. It's definitely the best show on this network and if they ended it, they'd be making a big mistake!

Yay!! more supernatural before summer!!
Anyone with fears of SPN getting cancelled can RELAX. This fall, the CW already has 5.5 open hours to fill. Sundays 7-10 (CW Now & LIW are over), Fridays 8-10 (smackdown gone) and Girlfriends slot. CW has plenty of room to renew Supernatural, OTH, SV, Reaper, GG, Game, reality shows and add new programs to the schedule.

Can't wait 'till Gossip Girl comes back on, but August though!? I guess it's better than not coming back at all.

love supernatural, smallville, one tree hill and gossip girl....

Yes, More Supernatural. It's the best show on
Posted by: Anonymous | February 13, 2008 11:45 PM
I'd be very upset if Gossip Girl didn't come back! I actually not too impressed about the fact that they left us hanging with Blair's breakdown! And now...I we have to wait unil August!!! Least they ain't just cutting us off...but that's still a long wait to find out!
Posted by: Dorothy | February 13, 2008 7:10 PM
I have been so upset that there hasn't been new episode of Gossip Girl(but seriously august???) and Reaper they are my new favorite shows and I am addicted...Bring on the new shows please! As for OTH keep them coming I can't imagine it ever ending I love Brooke Davis!

Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill so happy to see come back
WISH LIFE IS WILD will come back, it was a great show, absolutely love Leah Pipes

I absolutely LOVE OTH and Supernatural! They are my favorite shows of all time. Supernatural is actually the one show that my boyfriend will actually watch with me so I get my two favorite things at the same time: my show and cuddling with my honey. I was super mad when the strike stopped new episodes of Supernatural for a while! I will be very upset if the station decides that this will be the last season for Supernatural. There's so many questions they could answer in another season like what will happen to Dean? will he be like Ruby and help out his brother and remember how being a human was or will he totally forget and try to kill Sam?
OTH on the other hand is the best show ever. Not only did it totally show the real world of high school and all the drama, but it has the best story lines. I absolutely love all the relationships. Hallie and Nathan are the cutest and their little boy is so adorable, but Nanny Carrie needs to back off for sure!!! Nathan is being a good boy so far! haha! And Leyton are the best couple ever! I was so mad last night when I found out that Lucas proposed to stupid Lindsey. GRRRR!!! Lindsey doesn't deserve Lucas! Lucas and Peyton BETTER become Leyton again!!!!
Posted by: Jenn | February 13, 2008 1:08 PM
I don't know if I'm excited about OTH returning...I didn't wait 7 months in the first place to watch a married man who claims to worship his wife let some ugly whore fawn all over him. Letting her flirt with him (now that he finally gets it) is a betrayal and not telling his wife is lying. Nathan, remember the hissy fit you threw over Chris? HYPOCRITE, much?
Haley doesn't deserve to be so openly disrespected, and neither do the loyal NH fans.
I hope Mark is prepared to win back the Naley fans he is losing fast.

Yay more Smallville!!!!
Posted by: Jennifer | February 13, 2008 10:18 AM
I heard this morning that the strike was over and yipped for joy.
I started watching Smallville 3 years ago for 2 reasons; a, my S/O likes the superman universe and b, so I wouldn't miss a second of my absolute favorite tv show of ever Supernatural.
The CW does nearly nothing to promote the show and it lives on. They put it in direct competition with lost and CSI on Thursdays and although the viewer count has dropped it still survives.
One would think that the CW would feature it a little more promenintly (sp?) but no they want to focus on airhead fluff shows that focus on unreality with impossiblly perfect people in soap opera situations. Gah, I hate that crap. I wouldn't watch one tree hill or gossip girl if you paid me to. But hey thats just me and my opinion.
Bring on the new episodes of Supernatural!!!!!

I'm very happy to hear we're getting more One Tree Hill, that's great news!
I totally agree, most of the storylines are really good this year and they definitely can't leave us in the air as far as Leyton is concerned! Get 'em back together!! (Brooke loves Leyton this year, Yay!!)
Can I also say that Hilarie and Sophia this year have been so great!
BP's scenes are consistently one of the most enjoyable parts of the show - their friendship is so key to the mood of the show!!
Thank you CW for more OTH

Bring on more Supernatural!!

I find the CW has three of the best shows around. I've been in love with Smallville since season 2, and I've just had my head turned towards Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill. Personally, I have to say One Tree Hill (even though I just started this season) tops them all off. The fight for "Leyton" always has me wanting more. Glad to see the good news for the future!

august is such a long wait for Gossip Girls....but i cant wait, the show is so good n itz worth the wait..
Posted by: adrianna | February 12, 2008 8:50 PM
CW would be shooting itself in the foot if it doesn't renew Supernatural.
It is by far the best show the network has to offer and the only one that I watch on that station.
Posted by: Carol | February 12, 2008 7:59 PM
Oh most certainly SUPERNATURAL, that's the only reason I watch CW anymore, that show is just the best!!! Bring on the new episodes!!!

If Supernatural doesn't get renwed, I'm just plain and simple won't be watching the CW network anymore. I think it's a poorly network to begin with and the show has done fairly well considering how much neglect the network has given it.

I really enjoyed Life is Wild. I am very sad to see it go.
