CW Fashion Rules: Always Wear Lots of Layers -- No Matter How Hot Your Bod
The Winchesters are many things: brave Hunters, kick-ass fighters, snarky scene-stealers, tragic heroes… the list goes on. But are they fashion icons? We here at The CW Source say yes.
No, seriously, hear us out. The Winchesters are quintessential style leaders in that they have determined a signature look and they stick to it, no matter what the dictates of fashion say. According to Sam and Dean, the well-dressed man is wearing layers this season, and every other season. We're talking lots of layers: t-shirt, Henley, flannel shirt of hoodie, and jacket, at the very least. Round out the outfit with well-worn jeans and a few choice accessories (potentially mystical amulet, beer-opening ring, string bracelet, embellished laptop) and then add the finishing touch – copious weaponry. Finish off with the most important layer of all: A gorgeous, growling muscle car that oozes sex appeal. Voila!
"But ladies!" We hear you protest. "How can you advocate layer upon layer when it hides two of the most delectable bodies on television from being fully appreciated? Surely you want the boys to parade around in Speedos and smiles, nothing more. What gives?"
OK, this ensemble may not get you on the cover of Vogue, but it's eminently wearable – and practical, too! Multiple layers blunt the pain of a round of rock salt to the chest, and if you're wearing half your wardrobe, you don't have to take up much room in your duffel bag.
Here's the thing: we've determined that the Winchesters adhere to this dress code out of concern for humanity. Only shrouding their bodies in layer upon layer prevents the general public from spontaneously combusting at the sight of those sculpted arms, chiseled chests, luscious legs, muscular shoulders, delicious derrieres… Whew. Thank god the layers are there, or disaster would ensue.
So friends, we urge you to follow the lead of the Winchesters. Pile on the layers. Mask those physiques with article after article of clothing. Keep America safe by keeping your bodies covered. And hey -- that makes every time you show up in a single gray t-shirt, a pair of boxers or even (mercy!) a tiny towel that much more memorable for us all.

Kripke definitely knows what he's doing with all the layers the boys wear. It makes it so much more pleasurable to some skin from the guys once in a blue moon. I know in "Jus in Bello" when they flashed their tattoos, I nearly passed out and only didn't cause I didn't wanna miss a millisecond of it!

Of course the Winchesters are concerned for our health and well-being by being covered in layers... wouldn't want the fans to spontaneously combust, now would we? LOL! At least we have some solace in knowing that all those visually annoying layers help protect those gorgeous bodies from the harsh Vancouver elements when they're out there in the dark, cold, and rain, suffering for their craft and all for our weekly enjoyment. :-D Thanks boys!!

On most shows, we almost get used to seeing the characters in the raw. Not that we don't enjoy it. Still, it does lose some of its specialness.
With SPN, the boys are usually so covered up that seeing Dean in just a t-shirt, or seeing Sam's naked arm is like a big event. And actually seeing one of the guys without a shirt on...Yowza! Talk about special!
I love Dean and Sam's wardrobe. There clothes make sense for their characters. And I look forward to more special, yowza moments. :D

Those layers also prevent the entire supernatural fan base (female and homosexual) from bursting into the flames when the Winchester boys are on screen!

That article is so awesome! And everything that was said is true too... I mean it's always fun once in a while to see less layers but not always; it wouldnt be the supernatural-way of things, and besides its always more like a treat to see them just wearing one t-shirt.
It's crazy how such detail such as clothing makes a difference to a show. Congrats to the clothing designers and who ever works in the clothing dept for Supernatural : you are doing one heck of a job!!! Dean's jacket is now more popular than Superman's red cloak thanks to you!!! :D:D:D

This was soooo hilarious and sooooo true. I have never watched a show before where I got excited to see a shoulder or a single layer T-shirt. Even with the layers you can still see the width of the shoulders and the shape of their biceps. These guys don't need to show their bods to get us to watch, but by showing us so little skin, it just makes the flashes that much more spectacular *sigh*.

I love their style and think it's kinda cool how something as small as clothing actually plays such a big role in the show and the characters. Like Dean's leather jacket.
And hey, Canada gets pretty cold in the winter. We don't want frozen Winchesters do we?

I'm all for the boys peeling off a few layers too, but on the occasions they're getting their butts kicked that extra padding might just come in handy. Now if they were filming in Cali instead of Vancouver they'd HAVE to dress a bit lighter or the make-up crew would have a heck of a time keeping them looking fresh as a daisy. Up north, no prob.......Either way - they're beautiful.

OMG this is so funny and true .. I mean, when the fans are happy to see them even just without their jackets on ... THEY OWN US!!!
I think that one of my favorite episodes (and btw, I think it's a kickass ep even without this part of it) is the Season 2 premiere "In My Time of Dying" - just because Dean spends the entire time in just a t-shirt and hospital/surgical pants! (barefoot even)
Jared even mentions, during their commentary of the ep, that he thought that had to be the most comfortable that Jensen had even been (clothing wise) on the SPN set.

I totally agree with this post...and it is also a fashion statement, you do not need to take of your shirts all the time to make you look hot and sexy...
For once I am being a woman, I love the way they dress up, thats make them unique and extremely wanted..

LOL! Ah, how often do I wish for x-ray vision so I can see under those multi layers to the sensational bodies beneath? We've been teased--to distraction--watching "Skin", "Route 666", "Heart" and "Hell House" when those layers have been discarded, revealing the Winchester boys in all their hot, muscular glory! And while I'm all for fashionable, I'm pushing for the boys to get a case in balmy Hawaii, where clothing is expendable and skin is IN!

I'm not saying they have to walk around in a G-string or anything but more tshirts and NO MORE LAYERS over the tshirts would be perfect. :)

Yeah!! Winchesters have got a cool style. Loving it.
So I don't mind the gorgeous actors wearing lots of layers. I bet Jensen and Jared feel more comfortable with clothes than without clothes. Besides naked Winchester brothers would be an unnecessary distraction. Supernatural is a phenomenal series, it's got good plot and the incredibly talented main actors. It doesn't have to undress its actors in every episode to get at least someone to watch it.

Besides there are occassions when the layers do come off and seeing the boys in just "one" T-shirt is more than some fans can handle! Faint!!! I still remember the pleasant shock when Sam was just wearing a towel, it just happened once but that vision is still burned into my brain!!

its actually really interesting because the guys always wear layers and whenever they are shirtless, its even hotter than usual!
jensen ackles and jared padelecki have amazing bodies. nooo doubt about it
