One Tree Hill Podcast: "Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly"

Listen Now

One Tree Hill certainly knows how to tug at our heartstrings! There were countless tearjerker scenes in this episode (even if you're like Sarah, who usually refuses to have her tears jerked).

There were many touching scenes -- we met Q's adorable little brother, who bonded with Jamie. Haley struggled to explain death to Jamie and her students, but ultimately, she found a way to help them convey their grief. Deb comforted Skills (and therefore outed their relationship to Nathan and the gang). Nathan comforted Brooke in a scene that has everyone talking. We loved seeing Nathan and Haley reach out to Brooke, but why isn't Peyton figuring out that something is seriously wrong with her friend? Oh, and we're wishing the Nanny Carrie/Dan stuff could have waited for another week -- it just didn't fit in with the melancholy tone of this episode. And we barely saw Lucas at all!

hey i just saw mia in a cwsource interview she did...that is soo not what i thought she would look like :)

Anonymous your harsh. lol! But I do see the issue. Austin, Chad and James. WOW! Can it get more awkward BTS!

Anyways, I didn't really care for this Episode. Really didn't give me the waterworks you all are talking about. I did enjoy Dre/Jamie scenes they are too cute. Joy was amazing, and I'm getting used to Deb/Skills it was nice to see some comforting scenes from them. Also the LP scene was pretty nice even though it was like 2 secs of them in the whole Episode. Not that I care for them because am I NH fan, but I can enjoy them, but really Chad and Hil must of been bored out of their minds. They also had a WTF moment at the same time when Brooke was going crazy in NH living room (did anyone else see that?). LOL! I thought that was funny.

Can we get rid of all these random people including Mouth and just bring back Q's little Brother (DRE) and Mother for the rest of the season. They Rock! They were the best in this Episode along NHJ family.

NB scene was totally RANDOM. Was Mark really serious with that crap, was I suppose to believe they have a friendship? NP I would understand because they talk and have Chemistry and makes sense. Their friendship I would understand. But that NB scene was soooo awkward and just weird and came from someones ass... Sophia/James much, Yeah! I think so too.

Angel I agree with you on the Peyton thing. She is trying in her own way to help Brooke. I just think people jump on her too quick. Even if I don't like Peyton all that much I can still see she's trying. I love Haley and Nathan but they didn't do anything for Brooke. Nathan talked about random stuff trying to make his childhood and hers the same it wasn't. I agree w/ whoever said, Who is Mark kidding with that scene. Haley didn't do much either then Peyton did.

Also WTF is with all this no one cries like Sophia. She has the same over the top waterworks for the past 6 seasons. It's the same, to force and too over dramatic just too much, too soapy and she cries PRETTY?? LOL!! You guys don't watch much Television or Movies. All I was doing was laughing. I'm sorry, I can't help it, when She cries that's the first thing I do. lol!

I'm not trying to sound mean but come on enough already.

Brooke storyline is too frustrating and annoying now. I thought I was going to like it and maybe be interesting, but no enough is enough. Come out with it already. Enough with this keep it quite. It's just getting annoying now, no point in dragging it out.

You're giving way too much credit to Peyton. I just feel that everybody's reaction to Brooke's injuries are totally slanted and overlooked by the writing which frankly makes me really really angry. Peyton being the first to witness that and laughing it off does not get any of my sympathy. I am bias toward Naley since they are my favorites, but I expected more from them. I expected Jamie, the voice of truth when you listen to it, to tell everybody that you can't get two black eyes from falling down the stairs.

Sorry, but you are right no one cries like Sophia...in that no one could seriously cry as horrendously as that. She's very one note and over the top all the time. Since I've seen this exact same cry face about a 100 other times it makes no difference at all. Sophia needs to learn from Bethany Joy or Moira because her performances are just atrocious, especially when she cries. Either tone it down and add variety or stop making the same cryface in every freaking scene.

The Nathan//Brooke scene was random but I guess that's what happens when unprofessionals like Sophia Bush can't restrain themselves from pursuing on-set relationships, even after being burned the first time. When is this girl going to ever learn? With Austin Nichols joining the cast, that will be three different men that Sophia has slept with on the show. She has no grace and lacks any class.

And the episode lacked balance. The Dan/Carrie scenes took away from the episode and I agree with you girls in that they could have done without them.

I agree with Doot here.
Seriously, if u don't like the character don't condemn the real person. I completely agree with u guys, Sophia did amazing job with her scenes and she bring tears in my eyes(and I'm not so much a crier). Joy also did a good job too & I really don't get it how some people felt anything except friendship or sibling interaction with the Brathan scenes.

amsfan you really do need to get over yourself. i'm an enormous NH fan and i've listened to every pod cast these girls have made and i enjoy listening to them and hearing what they have to say, and they talk about NH a lot when they have actual storey lines unlike the tiny ones they had last season. they're just saying their opinions and what they thought of the episode they're not saying that's what you have to think so stop with the bitching seriously. i totally agree that NH were gold in this episode, i love them so much and i think it's awesome they're doing something to try and help brooke. and i think sophia bush is an absolutly amazing actress and she does cry beautifully, i well up every time she cries too cuz she really makes you feel what she's feeling. i really enjoy listening to these pod casts and hearing your take on the episodes, even if i don't always see things the same lol but you guys do a great job!

Ok seriously you girls are amazing! I love your podcasts, and look forward to them every week. I value all of your opinions, whether I agree with them or not. I love to get other peoples' thoughts on the show, especially those who AREN'T BIASED! I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but some of these comments are ridiculous. Jackie I agree with you, Sophia is amazing with emotional stuff, every time I watch the season 3 finale she still manages to make me cry. And that last scene was heartbreaking. Joy ALSO did a fabulous job in the episode. Joy and Sophia are the two best actors on the show period. Honestly I think Sophia stole 6.02 and that was the most amazing performance on the show, not just by Soph but EVER! But I have to say that Joy stole 603 for me. But Jackie when ever Sophia cries, I find myself right there along with her for some reason.
I know you are probably going to laugh at some of these comments, and not take them too seriously cause that is the kind of girls you are. But I just wanted to let you know that you do have HUGE FANS out there who love what you have to say, no matter who its about. Can't wait for next weeks and please start on s2 soon!! Thanks!

I think that it has to be Lucas to get this whole thing out of Brooke. They're making Peyton out to be a moron over this, so I don't know. I don't know. I didn't think she was raped, but now that you say that I'm not sure. But, like, if Victoria sent someone to rough up Milly, which is what I think happened, would she send someone to rape Milly? That seems like a bit much. Unless this guy just took some liberty with his "job". ...I don't know. I need more information.

I would have really liked for it to be Haley to have gotten through to her, and for it to have been out a been revealed in this episode. Haley and Brooke lived together for a while, and they always had this special relationship. If she was raped, I don't know if she could tell that to Lucas. I think it might have to be one of the girls. Haley would be a good choice.

As for Nanny Carrie, the only reason why she fit this week was that this episode was all about loss, and now we are privy to what she has lost. I agree that I don't like that she was humanized either, but I think we needed some sort of a reason as to why she was doing any of this. Psycho Derek killed his prom date that looked like Peyton. Now Nanny Carrie has a dead son. You just... you need that.
But I totally agree- enough with them. Have Dan escape already and be done with it.

Now I am really excited for Monday's episode and cannot wait for it to come. OTH is the only thing that can get me looking forward to a Monday!

Hey amsfan: I also think that nobody cries like Sophia Bush..when Jackie said that, it was what i was thinking too

OMG this episode is just so sad. That's all I can say about this. Nathan and Brooke should have more scenes together. I love those two together. Jackie you should totally call her that it's like her official nickname "shoplifter sam" Mia I am totally with you Peyton AAAAAARGH! she just seems so clueless I mean come on just look at her face and look at how she's been acting seriously anyone can tell that something is up with her other than her whole Victoria issues. I think that Brooke would have broken down in front of Lucas so that's why I think she doesn't go to him. I'm seriously st arting to think that Brooke was raped although I hope that it wasn't that. Well I kinda thought that the Dan and Carrie scenes were kinda involved with this episode because I think that this whole episode revolved around death and since we found out about her son who also died some how so I think it was all related.

WHen will you podcast seas0n 2?

i was a little leery of yalls podcast for this episode, b/c i knew how Sarah felt about this episode going into it. but i was glad to hear it made every1 cry! lol
it was GREAT writing and AMAZING acting! -sophia bush KILLED ME! bethany joy lenz KILLED ME! Jackson, KILLED ME!!

bethany had me crying b4 the first commercial break! and im not sure i stopped the rest of the episode! it was heartbreaking! and wore me out!

the scene with Qs mom made me cry actually, i mean, it was very similar to situations i have been in when ppl die, so it hit a sensitive note for me.

but what did me in was the funeral. when the basketball players showed up, ugh, as soon as i saw them walking up, i was BAWLING like a baby! then the line-up where they left the spot for Q and his brother put on that jersey! omg! i was a mess!! and the last scene with brooke and jamie did not help my teary situation! --when jamie grabbed brooke's hand, *TEARS!!*

on the carrie thing... im not so sure how much i believe her about her son. why would her son be buried in her backyard? didn't she say her DAD died there? carrie only said something about her "son" after dan did... AND when dan was out there crawling around and such, carrie had a shovel...? like really? i dont know much about like... burring people, but i'm pretty sure you dont need a shovel like... after they are buried... so idk.
-but i did feel that storyline just interrupted the "meat and potatoes" of the episode. but honestly, i kinda needed it, i dont think i could have handled a full 60mins of the hard-core emotional stuff!

i LOVED nathan in this episode, peyton again, imo, fell short. haley tried. and i agree, i think brooke is staying clear of Lucas --b/c i dont think she is able to keep her guard up around him as much as she is everyone else, and i feel like if she lets him close to her right now, she'll fall apart and tell him everything, and i dont think she's ready for that.

i LOVED the podcast!
cant wait to hear from yall for next wks episode!
--and are yall gonna do oth season2?

xoxo

Joy blew me away. She is such an organic actress. Being a big NH fan, I sadly didn't enjoy the comforting Jamie scene. James performance was lacking something I cannot point out, he just came of flat and opposite Joy he looked really odd. I didn't sympathize with Nathan at all, he just stood there all blank. But then Joy shed tears, my heart broke a little, her face didn't scrunch up, her eyes changed emotions and suddenly 1000 and 1 feelings fell from her eyes. It was beautiful how a little moment like that could steal a scene I didn't enjoy.

I am having a really hard time understanding the character of Brooke! To me, she will always be the ditzy girl who was amazing as comic relief. I can't take her seriously, and I was not impressed with the last scene with her breaking down. It looked forced with her face scrunching up the way it did painfully and then tears fell. I agree that it was time for her to pour herself out, she has been through a lot, but I found it rather painful, to be honest. I don't think Sophia is a good crier, she doesn't impress me on that area. She is more of funny character that makes you laugh. And don't get me started on her not reporting the whole thing, and not telling anybody anything! That is so stupid.

I think it is a little sad how forced the Nathan and Brooke scene looked, it was supposed to be nice and genuine, but instead a lot of people thought, okay, James and Sophia asked for this. And Mark should have known better... season three and four anyone? There should be a fine line between the characters and the actors portraying them. That is all I am going to say on this.

My favourite scene had to be the one with Quentin's mother thanking Haley, Nathan, Lucas and Skills. The actress blew me away, she was amazing! Such an organic scene.

And finally! Jamie is talking to somebody on his own age!!!

I cant honestly remember the last time you did a podcast for one tree hill and it was all POSITIVE! Anything you can find negative you will blow into proportion and basically bash the writers. Do you even like the show because it honestly sounds like that this is a choir for you!

If you weren't too busy talking about all the negatives you would of mentioned when Deb went to comfort Skills which I think was a very important development compared to the "clunky" (as you referred to) when talking about the writers.

Its their opinions! Who cares whether you like it or not?

I personally love your podcasts- not that that's important. LOL. I might not always agree with everything, but its your opinions and you are free to express them.

But again, please start with the season 2 podcasts now.

Once again I have to ask myself what was so great about this episode? I usually like a Mark written episode but this episode was just all around not great. No one cries better then Sophia Bush? Really? Go back through the season's and watch how Mark tortured the Peyton character then come back to me. Joy was the only one out of the core five that really did something in this episode and trust me it was not much really. Maybe I have a cold heart or something but I felt absalutely nothing. Jamie/Dre scene was ok but it pissed me off that Jamie/Nate were the one's cleaning out Q's locker when obviously it should have been Q's family. I did not care for the characters grief over someone they just met. I barely care for Jamie as it is. Chad looked bored for the whole episode Hilarie looked pissed all though I dont really blame those 2. They only had like 2 scenes. And I'm dissapointed in you girls. You honestly think Haley and Nathan helped Brooke? Didn't Peyton have a heart to heart talk with Brooke too? Nathan being deep. please give me a break. Haley was no better with the situation either. And I'm glad Lucas was not in a scene with Brooke. I don't want to see cringe worthy exes who still hate each other in scenes together. Any ways I give this episode a 2 out 10. Thats how bad I thought the episode was. I usually love Joy's acting but she was not the MVP of the night. Nope Jeleesa from A different World was.

angel, you said it all perfectly... peyton is trying to get to brooke the way she knows how, and i really don't like everyone picking on peyton when characters... ehemm lucas!!... haven't even checked in on brooke even though they are close to her. on the other hand, ANYONE should be able to notice that brooke could not have gotton those bruises from falling down the stairs. not just peyton.

but about the episode! it was great and a total tearjerker. haley, nathan, jamie, dre, they were all amazing! and of course i loved the end scene!

and okay, the scene between nathan and brooke was there because it's part of the story, because mark wrote it to be part of the story... it was brilliant!! and i CANNOT believe that people think that the scene was their because of their offscreen lives. seriously? it was there for a good reason!!

love the show, love the podcast gals!
and i can't wait til you podcast the other seasons!

doot-- I know they did that's not what I said. But other things were not mentioned nearly as much as Brooke. The podcasts are so Brooke-heavy it's ridiculous and they alienate not only LPers but NHers too.

And again the podcast often criticizes Mark for throwing BLers a bone, but the ladies in the podcast do the exact same thing everytime they mention Brooke and Lucas and add more fuel to the fire.

If something like a Brooke/Lucas scene was able to be mentioned as a scene that was missing in the episode...why didn't the ladies mention the Lucas/Haley scene that was also SO obviously missing in the episode? Biased much? Yes, I think so.

great podcast, I agree with everything with what they said, from nannycarrie, until Brooke, and you are not the only who believe that Brooke was raped,

something not mentioned, was the great performance of Bethany Joy at the scene where haley tells the story to jamie, was something in his voice and his eyes to me to mourn as a baby

Great podcast guys!!!
ok let me just start with what I think of you guys:
Jackie: The sweetest, and I'm soooo surprised you didnt fall and felt bad
for psycho nanny, I actually thought
you'd feel sorry for her.
Mia: I see you as romantic, but you kinda hide it. you're just a romantic
who keeps it to herself.
Sarah: LEAST romantic, you live for the evilness in shows, not that
you're evil but villains do excite the show,
but I see the niceness deep down inside, HEY
you cried! goes to show you're no stoic
plus you're hysterical!

but BACK TO THE PODCAST,
def Sophia and Joy delivered a wonderful performance!!!
Joy & James were incredibly convincing and heartbreaking scene
when breaking it down to Jamie.

the funeral was really touching, I'm surprised
you guys left out Deb not caring anymore
and comforting Skills infront of everyone!

LOOKING FORWARD TO S2 PODCAST!
Is it coming soon?

um, amsfan, get over yourself. the girls talked about Naley and everyone else - not just Brooke. Don't blame them just because Mark hasn't given NH enough interesting storylines.

I started crying just listening to you talk about that last scene! I cried the whole episode, but that scene had me going for a long time. Even the next day, I rewatched it and cried harder!

Bethany and James were AMAZING in the episode! And so was Andre and Ms. Fields, and obviously Jamie.

I agree with you about the "spiritual" aspect of the show. It felt weird and I didn't really like it.

Peyton is driving me crazy because she's so happy with Lucas that she doesn't want to ruin it by admitting that something is wrong with Brooke. I feel like she's always selfish when Lucas is involved. I totally agree with you! Lucas is blind too. Lucas was really close to Brooke, but now, it's like "Brooke who?"

I've said from the start that I thought she was raped. I am believing that even stronger now.

I guess the Carrie/Dan story is to parallel with the Q story with the loss of a child and how people cope with grief and loss (like Sam's voice-over was saying).

And when will you podcast seasons 2 and 3? I am positive that you'll love them! And I can't wait to hear what you think!

You ladies sure do talk a lot about Brooke.

There's a reason why NH fans don't really listen or respond to your podcasts. The opinions here are so painfully slanted. You mention everything non-Brooke almost as an afterthought and it's annoying to tell you the truth.

And LOL Jackie! No one cries like Sophia Bush? Well thank god for small miracles. Trust me all the crying and angst in the world won't get Sophia Bush an Emmy. She cries horrendously. So I'll have to disagree 100%. Sophia Bush is such an over the top actress, to say something as absurd as "no one does it quite like her" in an episode where Bethany Joy Galeotti cried to beautifully/gracefully is an offense to good actresses.

Please give Joy some credit. Bethany Joy Galeotti's scene with Jamie and Nathan? Joy is easily the best actress and I hate how biased your opinions are becoming in concern to Brooke/Sophia.

hey
yes it was very sad episode my sister didnt even make 5mins before so had to get the tissues out.
what bugs me is that peyton or anyone else can't see that as if brooke fell down the stairs come on. and i was a little upset that you didn't talk about deb and skills because after that moment when deb went and hold skills hand i was wonder what you guys would say and you didn't say anything. besides jamie i thought skills cared the most about Q when he was standing in the gym awww. and carrie had a son well now we know why she insane but this episode we could of done without her and dan anyway well me and my sister love to listen to your podcasts so you have 2 fans in sydney Australia me and my sister thanks

I think you guys Pick on Peyton too much. She knows something is wrong. They all do. Haley really didn't do much. Let's get real here. Nathan talk with Brooke was more on the line because of Vicky. LOL! (and Mark's way of giving us a NB scene which is a WTF moment and totally Random. I can also think of another reason why it was included lol!! Mmmm) So Nathan didn't see much.

Peyton is doing things her way. BP know each and they give each other space when it's need. The gang don't want to push Brooke, because if you guys watched all the Series from S1-S5 we'll know they type of person Brooke is she doesn't take being pushed right. All that will do is make her pull in more and stay DARK. She does things on her own and figures them out and then lets people in. I just think you guys need to see the whole series to know all these Characters and how they handle things.

Peyton does things the best way she knows/thinks how. She doesn't like people lying to her, she doesn't want to believe her Best Friend is lying to her. She knows she is. But trying to break down her wall piece by piece.

Her line "Life's to short Brooke, to fight, to be miserable". "Let the bitter ones change how awesome you are".

Is her way of telling her to open up, let us in. She knows something is wrong and Brooke is keeping it in.

So I'll just say that I don't think Peyton is not trying she is. I don't know sometimes I feel you guys are too hard on her.
Maybe you guys just don't like her, IDK! Maybe it was just me.

Anyways, the Episode was okay for me nothing specail, Loved Jamie and Q's brother "Dre". They were super cute. Wasn't all that emotional over it. Maybe a little because of Dre and Jamie. Other then that it was average Episode. Also loved the VO from Sam. What she wrote about Q was nice, my favorite line was the ending VO about "how he can fly now"

Episode was dull and boring. Only time I saw emotion was with Q's mom and brother (Andre). Everything else in the episode was just BLAH. Andre/Jamie/and Q's mom/Joy were the BEST in this Episode. Everyone else = FAIL!

Andre/Jamie scenes were cute and it was nice to see Jamie around kids his own age. Mark should have him around them more often then the adults.

Nathan/Brooke scene has to be the most random thing ever. Seriously Mark really wanted to piss all of people off with that one. It was awkward as hell, and just laughable. Sophia/James probably asked for that I bet. lol!

I guess Peyton is not the only one that fell for the "Falling down the Stairs", Haley didn't do much then Peyton did (so let’s not act like she accomplished something major here). They all sense something but don't want to push her, and let’s not downgrade Peyton because some of you have too much hatred for her. And referring Brooke to a Marriage therapist seriously?? WTF. Nathan and Brooke don't have similar backgrounds who, is Mark kidding Dan is nothing like Vicky. Brooke's dad was never around, we never saw into Brooke's background. Nathan had both his parents around. Just Dan was an ass. PLEASE!

Mark was just trying to hard with this Episode.

But I am enjoying Mouth less Episode even thou he's back in 606. BLAH... LP (well don't totally hate them like the rest of BLers, I can enjoy their scenes sometimes) but I like they are in the back burner for now, because w/ their storylines seems to be coming later from spoilers, now it's nice to see these little moments from them, and Lucas assuring Peyton that she is doing something just being there and that they love each other.

I also didn't like the NH less comforting scenes. While the other couples LP, DS were like holding hands or supporting each other close, NH looked like they were just familiar people wouldn't even know they were married

Anyways overall the Episode as just boring, and too much trying hard for emotion.

i dont hink we know Mia enough to say shes the least romantic.. lol :) loved the episode joy was beyond awesome
