One Tree Hill Podcast: "Things a Mama Don't Know"
We're back with more One Tree Hill episodes -- and more podcasts! We were torn on this episode, running the gamut from love to hate to indifference. We found some scenes exciting but frustrating, while other bits struck us as unnecessary -- and overdone -- filler. Plus, one major plot seemed almost ignored -- hello, Peyton's pregnant! That's kind of a big deal, don't you think? But there was so much going on this episode we'd almost forgotten until Haley figured it out and reminded us.
While Lucas is exiled in Hollywood (and in a rather pointless, boring plot), things are happening in Tree Hill. Nathan gets the call that he made the Charleston Chiefs, which is great -- until he encounters yet another obstreperous teammate. Mouth moons over Millie, contemplating his mistakes, until Millie shows up and confesses about her fling with Owen -- and suddenly, Mouth has the moral high ground. Grrr. Owen drinks away his pain until Chase shows up to save him and take over his job. Good thing Mia is there to save Chase, who wouldn't know a mixed drink from a hole int he ground. Mia helps him out, and it's possible Chase will help Mia get her songwriting groove back. All of which got us thinking -- which guy floats your boat?
But the big bad plot revolves around Brooke, Sam and the creepy bad guy who menaces them both. After much running around, Brooke finally tracks down creepy bad guy, who has Sam tied up in a closet. After a highly uncomfortable conversation, Brooke leaves -- only to realize that creepy bad guy was her attacker! Brooke storms back in, rescues Sam, finally gets the drop on creepy bad guy, and declines to blast his brains out -- although it's a close thing. Go, Brooke!
All of that gave us plenty to talk about. Find out the correct sequence of events for storming a bad guy's house, discover what song got stuck in our heads, learn what Mia dubs "the Salvation Army of One Tree Hill," and hear what injustice had us howling with disbelief (We really shouldn't record these podcasts right before lunch.)

I loved this episode but when Brooke realised that he was the guy that attacked her. I was kinda like aaargh don't do that but I guess sh was worried about Sam and she wanted revenge. But I was glad that Jack ernt to get Julian. Mia I loved your step by step that was so funny and dead on.
Peyton I am glad that she doesn't have cancer but being pregnant I'm kinda torn.
I was kinda not into Lucas' storyline this episode I mean he just found out he's gonna be a dad so he should have been with Peyton like making plans and stuff, or is it too early for that?
Nathan I was torn as well
I mean sure I can see why that guy was so mean to him, Nathan's presence is like intimidating, I think he knows that Nathan is the better point guard.
yay Chase, Chase is awesome. But Millie can't leave she's Brooke's employee. Mouth I like him but this is all his fault and I agree with you guys I don't think he derserved to take the high ground. I hope Chase and Mia get together I think they hit it off.
Now back to Brooke. She kicked butt she really let him have it.
But for me I loved this episode. I haven't seen any previews yet. As for tour buses, I've been on lots and I never learned how to make an "long island ice tea" was it? or something
great podcast as always

Like so many others, I agree that Bethany Joy Galeotti needs a storyline. She is such a dynamic person - talented, artistic and an overall joy to watch on the screen (no pun intended).
Mark and company really need to reevaluate her character and give her the credibility she deserves. It is something that is long overdo, not only for Haley and/or Naley fans, but for OTH fans in general.
LET BETHANY SHINE! OTH would definitely not be the same if it wasn't for her.
Also, did anyone take notice of the opening credits with the actors' names? This episode had numerous main characters, many of whom should just be listed in a guest starring role (there were too many guest stars, too). Where are Paul Johannson and Barbara Alyn Woods? They're still listed as mainstays yet we haven't seen them in a long time.

Totally hated the episode!
Too many cheesy and stupid moments (Peyton's 'I can't call you my fiancee anymore, Sam calling Brooke 'mom,' etc).
Plus I'm totally pissed that Peyton is pregnant. It seems that everything that Brooke would've given it all up for (Lucas, a child) gets handed to Peyton.
And Haley probably had less lines than Chase, Owen, Millicent, Mouth, Skillz (who miraculously reappeared), Julian, Andre, his mom, and any other secondary character that may have appeared.
And Naley are pretty much siblings now. Do they even touch each other anymore?
I will NEVER accept Brooke with anyone other than Lucas because I believe he will ALWAYS have her heart. He's the only person she's ever loved. We've seen Peyton love Lucas and Jake, and we've been told she loved Julian. But as usually, Mark's obsession and connection to Peyton (he said she's basically him) leads him to give Peyton all.
That said, Julian is the hottest of the 3 in the poll.

I totally agree with your recap of the OTH ep. It has always been my guilty pleasure but over the past few seasons, each ep is hit or miss. This one had both
Why even bother with this Lucas storyline...some link between Lucas/Nathan/Dan and Julian's jerk of a father? Who cares?
The way they led into Peyton's pregnancy...again, who cares.
I also agree with other fans. Bethany Joy Galeotti is an amazing talent. Do you think that the writers could find her a storyline.
Loved the Brooke scenes. I know. The killer was a bit of a cartoonish, but he was good at it. I loved seeing Brooke kick, but Sam's mom comment....unnecessary. It would have been just as effective without the mom and just the 'I need you'.
Mia and Chase....why and who cares. I'd rather see more Haley.
The two little boys. Cute, but enough already. Again, where's Haley? What was the point?
Owen and Millie...it definitely would have been interesting seeing more of them. Especially, the wake up call.
Nathan. I don't mind all of the jerks in basketball. lol. Atleast we were able to see Nathan step up in the end. A bit of the Nathan from the past. I loved it.
Even though some of the storylines drive me crazy, I'll still be watching.

HOW IS OWEN NOT WINNING THIS POLL? he's the hottest.
eh, i like all the guys but my order would go: owen, chase, julian.
julian is sweet and everything but he seems a bit too.. conniving or something. i'm so glad we got to see those flashbacks with peyton a few episodes ago. otherwise i think everybody would hate him.
the lucas storyline sucked.
i'm excited for the brooke/julian and chase/mia hook-ups. i think brooke needs to get back on the dating bandwagon and mia could really use someone sweet like chase.
YAY FOR BROOKE KICKING ASSSSS! :D
SO EXCITED FOR PEYTON TO BE PREGNANT! :D season five, i couldn't stand peyton, i physically hated her but this season, she's much happier, even if that means having to put up with 'leyton' (coming from a brucas fan) but yeah. i just hope she doesn't have a billion complications with this pregnancy. can't the girl just be happy?! jeeez.
sam - don't care. mouth - go die. millie - you made the biggest mistake of your life. owen - you're pathetic, but very hot. julian's dad - you suck, get out of our show plz.

Wow, it sucks when Haley's practically a nobody on this show. I waste an hour of my life waiting for her character to get something and instead what do I have to sit through? Boring, lame guest stars like Millicent and Mouth and those other rejects.
The episode sucked. And the attack sequence was badly done. Mark needs to step away from the low budget horror films and focus a little more on plausible character development.
FREE BJG!

I agree with Melissa, Haley is one of my fav. characters and she is barely getting a story-line. My fav. part is when haley says "OMG your pregnant" to Peyton. I also cant wait until julian/brooke hookup. Another fav. seen was the fight with brooke and Jacks brother. There could have been more action but it was still good. I also loved the Jamie and Q's brother scenes.
All the scenes with lucas was horrible, boring and should have not been filmed. And peyton saying little things referring to pregnancy was lame except when haley found out.

i think even though the plot line with lucas was boring it was nessacery. if they are gonig to make the book into a movie then they have to show all the stages of production. if not - and they only show filming - we will think its to cliche and unrealitic. obviously mark schwah was brave enough to show the boring but true stages of making a film including dealing with suits. i thought thats pretty brave and authentic!! thx for the podcast! good to have u back - love the ep!!

Its funny but i thought that you guys would like this episode....i couldnt wait to listen to your podcast cuz i thought that you would have nothing but good things to say about it. I was pretty disapponted when i heard you guys didnt like it because i thought it was one of the best episodes this season sure the sam thing was a bit unrealistic and cheesy at times and i really dont care about mouth i wish he would leave (sarah you are completely right and i love you for hating mouth) but the last 10 minutes of the show were amazing oth actually had me crying by the end of the episode with all the build up of drama ....and i voted for julian in the poll hes way better than owen anyday! But overall i disagree with you about the episode i loved it and i dont think you should of compared it to gossip girls episode mia cuz that sucked and i thought that oth was amazing last night

Favorite man meat? You guys are hilarious. I say Julian but I dont like him for Brooke for some reason. I think he and Peyton just has way more chemistry (I do prefer LP) I'm just saying I liked Owen with Brooke but what ever who cares. You guys were funny and made me laugh the whole time. Great job once again. I don't know why you guys are funnier in the OTH podcast then the GG ones lol
By the way Brooke's storyline of being attacked was so S4 when it happened to Peyton. That characters been there and done it all so all I could do was laugh the whole time and Sam calling Brooke "mom" *shudders* I never want to hear that again lol Can we have more Andre and less Jamie please.

In response to your poll, Julian is way better than Owen! No contest.

im so glad u guys are back for the one tree hill podcasts! i agree with u guys about the whole mouth/milli storyline, and i cant wait for the julian/brooke hookup, i feel like they're gonna have really good chemistry. im not feeling the mia/chase coupling b/c i cant believe they are being given more of a storyline than haley! haley is treated like an extra... she's a little part of everyone else's sotrylines but carries nothing of her own!
